Aserne Wenger still retains his interest on Felipe Melo
After watching Brazil’s Match against Republic of Ireland yesterday, 3 March 2010, Felipe Melo was still imposing a very strong and confident figure within the midfield. Brazil went on to win convincingly especially in the second half by two goals to nil. Felipe Melo’s performance has not gone unnoticed especially with Aserne Wenger the Arsenal’s manager. It seems like when he pinpoints a player a buzz is usually created especially if the player has been slightly established. Arsène Wenger has revealed that he retains an interest in Felipe Melo, the Brazil and Juventus defensive midfielder, as he plans for the longer term without the stricken Aaron Ramsey.
"We were interested in Melo during the summer," said Wenger. "We watched him in Brazil's international at the Emirates, against Italy [in February 2009], when he had an outstanding game. Then he went to Juventus and that team has struggled and certainly he has not had the season that everyone predicted he would. We still think he is a very talented player and with Gilberto Silva, Brazil have a very useful pair in midfield. We are still looking at Melo." Arsenal
